At NinthDecimal, we’ve always been committed to the highest standards in privacy. In fact, we helped establish privacy guidelines in 2011 that are widely adopted by the mobile ecosystem today. What’s more, NinthDecimal has been implementing Privacy by Design as a standard way of building products since we launched Location Graph seven years ago. In the spirit of that commitment, it’s a huge honor to announce that we have joined the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) Board of Directors. The NAI is the leading self-regulatory association dedicated to responsible data collection and its use for digital advertising.
Our very own Kevin Ching, SVP of Product and Data Strategy, is the first location data representative to be appointed to the NAI board. As a member, Kevin will use his twenty years of mobile and data experience to help the industry navigate an era where data collection and use are an integral part of every digital business, and consumers are demanding more information about their digital footprint and how their data is used. Contributing to the implementation of data collection best practices with consumers’ interests in mind will also be a big part of his role.
“We are very excited to be adding Kevin to our Board during a time when privacy and data collection are front and center for publishers, brands and consumers,” said Leigh Freund, president & CEO of NAI. “Kevin’s deep experience in location data represents the type of leadership that we need to continue NAI’s strong track record of instituting responsible privacy and data collection standards, and keeping our commitment to consumers to offer notice, choice, transparency, and control.”
Kevin brings an extensive track record in successfully implementing and growing privacy friendly mobile and data businesses globally. He has been recognized for co-developing AdChoices, a self-regulatory program for online interest-based advertising, for the mobile ecosystem. NinthDecimal was one of the first companies to offer a “mobile ad choices” icon and opt-out ad option in 2012. Kevin is also a recipient of the IAB 2017 Service Excellence Award for his work on the Mobile Location Data Guide for Publishers.
Earlier in his career, Kevin’s contributions helped NinthDecimal win the North American Frost and Sullivan New Product Innovation Award for the company’s launch of its audience intelligence platform, Location Graph.
“It’s an honor to be joining such a progressive organization dedicated to the same transparent and responsible data management practices already adopted by NinthDecimal,” said Ching. “As an industry, it’s important that we are proactively challenging and reevaluating the standards that govern consumer privacy policies and data management. I’m looking forward to working with other members to further explore how we can continue NAI’s mission of building consumer trust across the entire industry.”
NinthDecimal has been a member of the NAI since 2015.
About the NAI
Founded in 2000, the not-for-profit Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) is the leading self-regulatory association dedicated to responsible data collection and its use for digital advertising. NAI is the only membership organization comprised exclusively of third-party digital advertising companies. Almost every Internet ad served in the United States involves the technology of one or more of the NAI’s over 100 member companies. NAI members provide the infrastructure for the Interest-Based and Cross-App Advertising that enables a thriving and diverse market of ad-supported free content and services. The NAI’s role is to help promote consumer privacy and trust in this market by creating and enforcing high standards for responsible data collection and use practices online and in mobile environments among its members.
