NinthDecimal Gives Back: Volunteering at GLIDE

NinthDecimal GLIDE volunteers

Yesterday, the San Francisco NinthDecimal team was overjoyed to volunteer for GLIDE, a well-known charity organization based in San Francisco. GLIDE’s mission is to create a radically inclusive, just and loving community mobilized to alleviate suffering and break the cycles of poverty and marginalization.

It was a pleasure to help out for the Grocery Bag Giveaway, which is an annual GLIDE event during the holidays. GLIDE gave away 5,000 bags full of groceries to individuals and families this year. This was NinthDecimal’s 3rd year volunteering. Our volunteers helped assemble and serve lunch, worked with the GLIDE staff to prepare additional meals, and connected with patrons. We had a fantastic day working together, bonding as a team, and giving back to our community. Everyone who volunteered left the event with a great sense of satisfaction and gratitude after giving back.

About GLIDE

GLIDE’s social services were launched in 1969 when a handful of volunteers began serving a Monday night meal to people on the street. Since then, GLIDE has become one of San Francisco’s largest and most comprehensive providers of innovative programs and services for the poor and marginalized.

GLIDE is always appreciative of help during the holiday season, however encourages volunteers to join throughout the year. Visit www.glide.org for more information.
